From December 1, 2020, the NCCAOM will remove the maximum number of test retakes. Currently, NCCAOM does not allow test retakers to take more than five times.

Mina Larson, CEO of NCCAOM, interviewed with Acupuncture Today regarding the change and said, “I am happy to announce that with the support of the NCCAOM Board of Commissioners, we are removing the maximum cap limit of five times that an applicant can retake the certification exam.”

Larson CEO added, “candidates who failed an exam after the fifth attempt were no longer able to retake that exam. After gathering input through a public comment period, the NCCAOM Eligibility Committee, in consultation with the National Commission of Certifying Agencies (NCCA), set to work on reviewing and revising this policy.”

NCCAOM recently announced that NCCAOM is changing the Exam Retake Policy to give exam retakers more chances to take tests if the applicant meets the specific criteria and petitions the NCCAOM with their request.

To take NCCAOM exams more than five times, an applicant should meet the criteria set by NCCAOM.

According to the NCCAOM website(www.nccaom.org/nccaom-exam-retake-policy) for retakers, “the candidate must satisfy additional educational requirements based on multiple factors like certification application validity, exams passed to receive additional exam attempts.”

To find the criteria for retaking the NCCAOM exam, answer questions on the website. Then the website will give personalized solutions for providing more chances for taking more number of tests.
